Watching this romantic comedy from the 30s, I was struck by the fact that NOBODY smoked a cigarette till half way through the film. I don’t suppose the tobacco industry would be too bothered because every movie in Hollywood had actors lighting up every five minutes. Whenever someone enters a room, the pack comes out.
And of course, advertising the smokes was a nice earner for the stars.
Who knew any better back then.
The film itself is ok,with Claudette being chased by Robert Young,Melvyn Douglas and Lee Bowman.
Supposedly set in Paris then Switzerland, I believe some of the outdoors scenes were filmed on location in Sun Valley.
My favorite scene is Claudette and Melvyn showing what good ice skaters they were!
